The All About Appetizers tent may only have five samples at any given time, but they run so wide a gamut you can’t help but stop by and try one. Old standbys include creamy roasted red pepper hummus; more exotic flavors include a cream cheese – based dip with bursts of apricot, rich macadamia and coconut undertones, and the occasional nip of red pepper. A different array of samples each week keeps things interesting. Above all, the stand’s owner– and head dip-maker – Claudia Davis, loves the social aspect of the market. Though she has a busy schedule – she visits the Lake Forest, Lake Bluff and Grayslake markets in addition to running a website (allaboutappetizers.com) – she loves the chance to form relationships with lasting customers. All of her products may fit in a single category – namely, “spreads and dips” – but this category comprises an impressive array of textures and flavors.
